Yvonni Gkergkes
I'm happy to share with you a few things about my personal and professional background. I lived, worked, and studied in four cities in the UK and Greece. I'm now based in Edinburgh for the last nine years. I spent almost a decade searching for a career I'd be passionate about in my studies and life experiences. And through my work experience in various supporting roles, I accumulated years of working with people. Perhaps like you, I've been through major life changes and challenges. Throughout the years, I found great support in my own psychotherapy sessions. I finally found that the best role for me is supporting others by being a counsellor. I started this career in 2018 and never looked back.
My educational background includes an HND and an HNC in Pluralistic and Integrative Counselling, and an honours and a master’s degree in Humanities & Social Sciences which enrich my counselling practice.
My studies in Humanities (history, sociology, anthropology) inform my counselling work and offer a unique blending and perspective, as I have deeply engaged with concepts like culture, identity, race, gender, religion, socio-economic status, and more. Social concepts that influence daily aspects of our lives and experiences.
